Now Open for Lunch

We have been getting querries if D A L F R Y D A Y is a vegetarian restaurant!!!! The answer is a BIG NO!!!.

D A L F R Y D A Y serves a healthy mix of vegetarian and non vegetarian North indian dishes… We recommend Mutton Raara and if you like it really spicy our Laal Maans is a must try. Also suggest the ‘maans’ eaters bite into our Rojali Kabab(breasts of chicken stuffed with minced lamb and finished in the tandoor.) For the vegetarians there is the ever popular kababs Kukurmutte Multani , Kaaju Paneer ke Sheekh and the chef’s special Tandoori Bharwan Aloo Dum ke among the many mouth watering dishes to choose from. We also highly recommend our Jalfrezi a vegetarian main course.

Do not miss out on our Briyanis, the delicious Murgh ki Dum Biryani, Lucknawi Biryani and the ever popular Handi mein Ghosht Biryani – (Lamb curried rice served in a clay urn).

BUFFET LUNCH – Starting 25 September D A L F R Y D A Y opened for lunch. The response has been improving by the day. We feel with the navrathri festival around not many people dine outside their homes…Our take away sales have been very encouraging so far. Considering the large office poulation in the area we have decided to offer a Veg buffet Lunch…attractively priced at Rs 125/- per head.

This blog shall hence forth list the buffet menu for the day ahead.

In addition we also serve a fixed portion of one non veg dish for an addition of Rs 50/- along with the buffet. The rate for the buffet as mentioned earlier is inclusive of all taxes. The rates on our ala carte menu are also inclusive of taxes.

No surprises just good tasty and healthy food.

Three days through our first run

D A L F R Y D A Y officially opened its doors to the general public on 10th September 2006 (although we had quietly opened ourselves a couple of days earlier hoping to get a feel of the response…;))

Its been very very satisfying so far…the general response to the ambience and the quality of the food has been quite encouraging although we have been disappointed ourselves, about aur inability to ensure good service standards when there are about 30 – 40 people waiting outside the restaurant to dine.

Though saddening but we didnt want to disappoint them so we had to politely turn away many guests on Saturday and Sunday. We are not a fast food restaurant and therefore our food deliveries to the table, like any other restaurant takes a minimum of 20 minutes after the order is placed.

If you intend to dine at D A L F R Y D A Y do try and visit us a little early…7:45pm is a good time :). This is only an indication:)

D A L F R Y D A Y is currently open for dinner only. Very shortly we should be open for Lunch. We are also getting our beverage, smoothie and chaat menu organised. This should be ready by the end of the month.

For all of you who have called,spoken and complimented us so far a big thankyou…Your concerns have also been noted and we are working on it…about the parking as a temporary arrangement you may park your vehicles on the lane alongside Adigas restaurant which is opposite to HSBC Bank.

Food Trials

Been a very busy week, setting the standards for restaurant operations and also conducting food trials. The food is doing a lot of talking…its creating a small Buzz!already… We have had close to 50 people randomly chosen who have dined at the restaurant over the week… A few of whom have been friends, family and relatives…The feedback from the others so far have been very encouraging…

Got the main signborads erected last night…will post images later…Looks quite cool…Thanks Siddharth for the design…:)

Finally we have our Tandoor in order… we were finding it extremely difficult to get the right chef for the Tandoor…finally managed a master from Delhi who has also been with the Raddison and Marriott. I guess we have a big kabab Factory hangover…We love the kababs of Radissons at their Kabab Factory and were trying to bench mark ourselves at those levels which was probably why we were unable to pick the chefs for our tandoor easily.

Apparantly we want the best for ourselves and for everyone who dine here…Watch out for our ‘Kukurmutte Multani’ – A delicious preparation from our Tandoor made from Fresh Mushrooms and Cheese…Yum!

The Biriyani’s have been the biggest surprise so far…Lucknawi Biriyani (A delicious layered curried riced made famous by the nawabs of Lucknow), Murgh ki Dum Biriyani , Handi mein Ghosht Biriyani ( Lamb biriyani served in a clay urn).

I have tasted Biriyanis at many restaurants in Bangalore and have always found them to be boiling their meat…except perhaps at the Biriyani merchant who sells some really rocking biriyanis.

In many cases when they dish out one to four portions they invariably tend to be soaked with too much spices and very liberal on the fat….

But am very pleasantly surprised by the Biriyanis our chef has been dishing out so far…

The countdown has begun and dang we are excited…
